Overview

The Nana and Asoke area is one of the busiest business districts in Bangkok. It also has not one but two red light districts, Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza. It is centered on Sukhumvit Road with many high end, serviced apartments. There are many excellent hotels and the nightlife is busy and diverse, from Irish pubs to Indian restaurants and from pavement bars to top class night clubs thirty floors up.

Transportation

It is a very central area, so getting to and from it is very easy. It is on the Sukhumvit Line BTS (sky train). You can disembark at Nana BTS or Asoke BTS which connects you with the Sukhumvit MRT (subway) Station.

Hospitals

This area is home to Bangkok’s number one International hospital, Bumrungrad International Hospital. It has over 500 rooms and services over 400 000 international patients per year.

Shopping

As far as shopping malls go, Terminal 21 takes you around the world one floor at a time. Each floor is themed after a famous city. You will find anything from Mexican to Japanese food here. It is also easy to get to; it is connected by sky bridge to the Asoke BTS. If you fancy some outdoors shopping, walk along Sukhumvit Road from Asoke BTS to Nana BTS and you will see both sides of the street make up one long street market. You can get anything from t-shirts to miniskirts and DVDs to lamp shades.

Supermarket

All your grocery shopping needs are catered for here. There is a Foodland on Soi 5 in the area which is open 24 hours and you will find it is cheaper than anywhere else for groceries. You will also find a Tesco Lotus and a Tops nearby, which both have a selection of imported and local goods.

Schools

The British School Of Bangkok is on Sukhumvit Soi 4 away from the busy area. It offers a British based curriculum for children from 2 to 11 years old. Close by is also the New International School Of Thailand which has a reputation for being the most established accredited IB World School in Bangkok, accepting children from 3 to 18 years old.

Restaurants

The Nana and Asoke area definitely has a lot to offer on the entertainment side of things. Near Asoke BTS you can find the red-light district of Soi Cowboy, Named after the cowboy hat wearing American who founded the area. On Soi 4 there is Nana Plaza, another red light district and just further down you will find Hanrahan’s Irish Pub where you can watch any sporting event live on many different TVs. Right under the Asoke BTS is The Black Swan with amazing British pub fare and happy hours on draught beer from 4pm till 8pm every day of the week. There is also a restaurant/nightclub called Bed Supperclub where you lounge on beds enjoying amazing food and listening to top DJs.
